WIWS - March 2

I had big plans for this WIWS post. I'm not a big fashion/outfit linker, but I've wanted to write a little bit about self-care for awhile (still do, actually), and it seemed like the right venue. And since I'm forcing myself to write this weekend just to complete the off-cycle 7 in 7 challenge . . . a plan was born!

Thennnnnnnn . . . my WiFi decided to get wonky, so I spent most of my down time messing with the WiFi (which is back up, but I'm not an IT person, so it was a fun fixing process) instead of writing this post!

Anyway, my maternity wardrobe is getting to the point where fewer and fewer things fit and even fewer look quite right. This was probably the last weekend in Phoenix that we could pull off tights and boots, and since I was running late, I pulled this standby together. I think I wore this same combo to about half of the residency interview dinners I got to accompany Charles to this fall!

Sunday Best - vol. 2

Linking up with Grace et al to commiserate share how Clare did at Mass. It feels so liberating to grade her.

As an added bonus, you get a mediocre hall/closet mirror selfie of my outfit!

Shirt: Old Navy, several years ago
Skirt: Off brand from Last Chance, $5 several years ago (I've definitely gotten my money's worth!)
Shoes: Dillard's (they are actually my wedding shoes, so 2 years ago)
Ability to pass for a high school student: God
Laundry spilling out of the closet: actually got done yesterday

While I really like the skirt, it really does look cuter (and more like an adult is wearing it) with a cardigan. But the print is so summery, that my opportunities to wear it with a cardigan are limited, because, in June, in Phoenix, a cardigan outdoors while carrying my little personal space heater is just so not happening. First world problems, I know.

Speaking of my little personal space heater, she was actually a very good girl at mass, just some babbling (and announcing that she found another "BABY!"), but age-appropriate. That said, she gets major points deducted for an enormous, disgusting poopy diaper (and everything else) while walking from the parking lot to the chapel.

Grade: B

And since I have my outfit, I'm going crazy and linking up with the lovely ladies at Fine Linen and Purple, too.

Alleluia!

Happy, Happy, Happy Easter! Praise be to God! Alleluia, Alleluia!

I hadn't made any decisions about whether or not I was going to post during Holy Week, not post during Holy Week, or what. Then I got some sort of weird virus-y thing that left me congested and running a fever(?) and run down this week.

Anyway, I'm back up and running, just in time to celebrate! I'm feeling particularly joyful and festive today, even though yesterday I was feeling somewhat melancholy about not going to the Easter Vigil for the first time in a looong time. Last night, though, the joy filled me, even as He passed from death to Life.

He is risen, indeed! Alleluia!

Meanwhile, after Clare was in bed, we filled the house with Easter!

Noah's Ark from Grandma

And this morning, we celebrated.

And celebrated some more at Mass. We decided to intentionally hit the outdoor overflow Mass at our parish, and it was a beautiful day to sing joyfully to the Lord.

Easter finery
Are we done yet?

Grainy iPic of my shoes, 'cause the full-length shots make my knee-length dress look like the longest tea-length dress ev-er.
Told ya so

And since I'm linking with Grace, the deets:

Dress: Express (from a million years ago), Shoes Rampage (also very old), Cardi not pictured: Old Navy; Clare's dress: gift

Now, we're doing a bit of relaxing before Charles' parents come for dinner!

Happy, Happy, Joyful, Blessed Easter! Alleluia!

What I Wore on Christmas

Christmas Eve is basically my favorite day of the entire year. Este ano (too lazy to figure out things like tildes on the computer), C's parents are came over for Mass and dinner and presents

Since we're still a one-kid family, we opted for sanity at the 4pm Children's Mass (read: before bedtime meltdowns ensue). Then things got alllll crazy in this hiz-ouse, and we ended up at 5pm at a different church and it was super lovely. Cribbing from Grace, Little got a Mass grade of B-; she did scream through the homily, but she did fall asleep by the Eucharistic Prayer and was forced to try and be good for an extra hour due to our Mass plan revisit two-step and having been woken from a nap to do it, so she gets extra credit for all of that).

Anyway...some post-Mass family pics:

Family pic: Little is very impressed, and my hair is...ugg...
Is it still pulling a Grace if it's totally candid? I'll go with yes.

Me
Skirt: H&M; Tank: Old Navy; Cardi: Target; Tights: Somewhere; Shoes: Circa by Joan & David, via Last Chance

Little
Dress and tights: Carters; Socks and flower: gifts

C and his parents
Outfits: their closets via stores of some sort

There is a forthcoming "Little's First Christmas" post that will feature more outfits! more family! and basically be a million only-moms-and-grandmas-care scrapbook of Christmas. But we have Christmas Part III this afternoon/evening, so the bated breath will have to be held until tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Grace has all the lovelies over at Camp Patton.

What I Wore to Thanksgiving Dinner

Happy Thanksgiving! Black Friday! Day After Thanksgiving! Why yes, I am undrafting while nursing in the middle of the night. Thank Little.

Today, I'm combining my obnoxious Baby Turkey post with Camp Patton's What I wore to Thanksgiving Dinner link-up.

What I wore for my first Thanksgiving (in 1981):

2 months

When I made Little relive the experience of being a Turkey:

Yesterday - doesn't seem traumatized

When I was a Pilgrim:

1st Grade - my Gramps' shoulder in the corner

(I don't plan to make Little relive that one. Unless I find the Pilgrim costume. Then all bets are off.)

What we wore when we left the house today:

Getting a decent pic is harder than it looks

On me:
  Jeans - via Ross
  Tank - Target
  Cardi - Gap outlet
  Boots - via Famous Footwear

On Little:
Onesie - Gymboree (It has her name-ish "Little Pumpkin")
  Jeans - Old Navy

I admit, I voyaged across town with an extra cardi for me, a shirt for C, and 3 onesies and a pair of pants for Little. Amazingly, we actually wore this to eat, but quickly tore through the clothes during a shockingly robust game of LCR. Our day was actually more fun than that description makes it sound.

Check out Grace and other cuter looks over at Camp Patton, probably with 100% less Pilgrim. Probably Definately a good thing.
